Slug Caterpillar : शेतकऱ्यांनाे विषारी घाेणस अळीपासून सावधान!

✴️ बहुभक्षी व खादाड कीड
घाेणस अळी (Slug Caterpillar) ही एक बहुभक्षी कीड आहे. ती शेताच्या धुऱ्यावरील (बांध) गवत (Grass), एरंडी (Castor), मका (Maize), आंब्याच्या झाडावर (Mango tree) प्रामुख्याने आढळून येते. ती तुरळक प्रमाणात तृणवर्गीय पिके व काही फळपिकावर देखील दिसून येते. एखाद्या परिसरामध्ये ही कीड जास्त प्रमाणात आल्यास ही झपाट्याने पानांवरील हिरवा भाग खाऊन फस्त करते व पानांना केवळ शिरा शिल्लक ठेवते. ही कीड शक्यतो पावसाळ्यात, परतीच्या पावसाच्या काळात, उष्ण व आर्द्र हवामानात आढळून येते.
✴️ स्वसंरक्षणासाठी साेडते विषारी रसायन
या अळीच्या शरीरावरील बारीक बारीक केस असतात. त्या केसांमध्ये (Urticating Setae) संरक्षित विषारी रसायन (A protected toxic chemical) असते. अळी त्याचा वापर स्वतःच्या संरक्षणासाठी करते. केस माणसांच्या त्वचेमध्ये टोचल्यास अळी विषारी रसायन त्वचेमध्ये सोडते. त्यामुळे खूप दाह हाेणे, त्वचा लाल होणे, त्वचेचे रिएक्शन, त्वचा सुजणे, डोळे लाल होणे, खूप आग होणे, त्वचेवर चट्टे पडून अग्नी दाह अशी लक्षणे दिसून येतात. ही अळी माणसाच्या अंगावर किंवा माणसाच्या दिशेने येत नाही. ज्याप्रमाणे गांधील माशीचा डंक लागल्यावर दाह होतो, तसाच दाह ही अळी किंवा घुले माणसांच्या त्वचेच्या संपर्कात आल्याने हाेते. काहींना हा दाह सौम्य असतो. ज्या ॲलर्जी (Allergies) किंवा दम्याचा (Asthma) त्रास आहे, त्या व्यक्तीमध्ये मात्र तीव्र स्वरुपाची लक्षणे दिसून येतात.
✴️ नैसर्गिक नियंत्रण व घ्यावयाची काळजी
या किडीचे नैसर्गिक नियंत्रण मोठ्या प्रमाणात निसर्गातील विविध मित्र किडी करत असतात. त्यामुळे घाबरून न जाता बांधावरील गवत काढत असताना किंवा शेतातील इतर कामे करतांना या किडीचे निरीक्षण करून ही कीड आपल्या त्वचेच्या संपर्कात येणार नाही, याची दक्षता घ्यावी. त्याचप्रमाणे काही अपवादात्मक परिस्थितीत आपल्या त्वचेशी या किडीचा किंवा तिच्या केसाचा संपर्क आल्यास आपण घरी वापरतो तो चिकट टेप हा दंश झाल्याच्या ठिकाणी हलक्या हाताने लावून काढून घ्यावा. यामुळे या अळीचे केस सहजपणे निघून जाऊन दाह कमी होण्यास मदत होते. ज्या ठिकाणी दंश झाला आहे, त्या ठिकाणी बर्फ लावणे व काही प्रमाणात बेकिंग सोडा व पाण्याची पेस्ट करून लावणे हे देखील फायदेशीर ठरते. लक्षणे तीव्र असल्यास मात्र नजीकच्या वैद्यकीय अधिकाऱ्यांचा सल्‍ला घेणे योग्य राहील. जनावरांना मात्र या अळीपासून फारसा अपाय हाेत नाही. या अळीच्या व्यवस्थापनासाठी गवतावर कीटकनाशकाची फवारणी केल्यास ते गवत फवारणीनंतर किमान 7 दिवस गुरांना खाऊ घालू नका किंवा ते गवत गुरे खाणार नाही, याची काळजी घ्या.
✴️ कीटकनाशकाद्वारे नियंत्रण
या किडीच्या नियंत्रणासाठी विशिष्ट अशा रसायनाची किंवा कीटकनाशकांची शिफारस नसली तरी नेहमीच्या वापरातील कीटकनाशक जसे, क्लोरोपायरीफॉस (25 मिली प्रती 10 लि. पाणी), प्रोफेनोफोस (20 मिली प्रती 10 लि. पाणी), क्विनॉलफॉस (25 मिली प्रती 10 लि. पाणी), इमामेक्टिन बेंजोएट (4 ग्रॅम प्रती 10 लि. पाणी ), 5 टक्के निमार्क फवारणी व या किडीच्या व्यवस्थापनासाठी उपयुक्त ठरते, अशी माहिती डाॅ. पंजाबराव देशमुख कृषी विद्यापीठातील कीटकशास्त्रज्ञ डाॅ. प्रदीप दवणे यांनी दिली.
